ABOUT THE ITEM
Rubellite is the pink to red variety of tourmaline. Fine quality rubellite can be mistaken for ruby. As a matter of fact, the Russian Crown Jewel known as "Caesar's Ruby" was later determined to be a red tourmaline (rubellite) pendant, not ruby! Fun Fact: Tourmaline is both pyroelectric and piezoelectric, meaning it is a gem that becomes electrically charged when heated or squeezed!
This high quality rubellite is a very attractive purplish red color, resembling fine rubies. It has been routinely heated to improve its appearance. It measures 11.00 x 9.10 x 6.05mm and weighs 3.81 carats.
